I finally have something for you to read

I have been posting only video and audio files for everyone to check out. This time I have an article that I thought was good. This is a kind of behind the scenes look at the Fox News Channel. It's a pretty interesting article that describes what was happening back stage at Fox during the second presidential debate.

For those of you who don't know about Fox and the debate on media bias I'll give you a little info and my opinion.

First off, there are two dominant story lines about media bias. One is from the conservative side that says that the media are all liberal and they're out to get the conservatives. The other side says that the media are completely owned by corporations...how could they possibly be liberal? That side also says that Fox News
is basically a mouthpiece for the Republican Party.

What's my opinion you ask? I think both arguments are missing something. For starters I don't believe that there is an dominant liberal bias as the conservative movement would have us believe. I believe the media are basically conservative on issues of economics, corporate power and war just to name a few issues. There is no real coverage of poverty issues and health care access.

On the flip side, I think that there is basically a cultural liberalism in the media. On issues such as gay rights and abortion, among others, there is a tendancy toward liberalism. The problem is that the issue is far too complex to some up in these simple terms. It's certainly too complex to sum up in a blog entry.

Anyway, just read this article and comment. Feel free to react to my statements as well. My favorite part of this article is the conversation with Hillary Clinton at the end. Enjoy!

One of the Greatest Ads Ever Made

Asimo

This Honda Ad is one of the greatest things in the history of the advertising industry. I would like to say thank you to Stevie for sending the link. I watched the ad at least five times in a row the first time I saw it. It really is amazing. I would recommend that everyone watch it more than once before commenting on it.

It would also be a good idea to read this article. It's unbelievable that this thing worked when you read all that went into it. It's a wonder the ad was completed. Imagine going through 606 takes! It makes the half dozen takes some of the class projects have gotten seem like no big deal.

I would like to see some comments on the ad and the article. Enjoy!
