Here is the link to The BC. I haven't had the chance to watch it yet so I can't make any comments about the quality. I think you should check it out and let me know what you think in the comments space.

Hello all, here are some announcements

Here are the things to be thinking about for the next two weeks or so.

First, all three groups should have their first planning meetings before Tuesday’s class. I want to have meetings with each group on Tuesday to go over what needs to be done for the project and to tell you what I think you should do before you shoot. Be prepared.

Second, the quiz is on Tuesday. Take a look at the news notes on the left side of the web site. Make sure that you have read chapters 8 and 14 as well.

Third, the baby should be here any day now. The due date is Tuesday the 15th but it could come sooner or later. We’ll see. Keep in mind that there is a possibility that I will miss a class. You should be prepared to shoot without me and have the project done for my return. You can direct any technical questions to Dr. Miller (x2266 or x 3790).

Fourth, Dr. Edwards will have a tape for you. I am leaving the B-roll and ad/PSA tapes in the control room by the program monitor.

Finally, you are required to watch this video. After watching it you are required to leave your comments in the comments page linked below this post.

5. one story with b-roll and one with a sound bite

If you have any questions just e-mail me at rspicer@comcast.net.

I will be finishing up the news lecture on Thursday. Quiz #2 will be on November 8th. It will cover the news lecture and chapters 8 and 14 in the book.

As promised, here is the link to that Hummer ad. Give me your thoughts in the comments link below. I am wondering what everyone thinks of the aesthetics of the ad.

Sample Scripts

Here are some links to sample scripts. look them over. Try to keep them in mind when you are writing your scripts for your own projects. Don't forget that you should be working on floor plans too.

The first two scripts, here and here, are from the show Undeclared. The first one is a rough draft the second one if the final version. This third script is from a news program. Notice how it is split instead right down the middle like the first two. Also, the writer has marked cues. These cues indicate to a speaker when they should begin.

my first post of the semester

This is my first post of the semester. As we discussed here is the link to the video of Kanye West going crazy on MSNBC. It's great! It takes the page a minute to load. It's worth the wait.
